Shit Dan taught me

For which I am forever grateful.

How you set up a room determines how people interact. Make a circle so power isn’t placed up front

Remember people’s names. If you don’t they won’t remember you.

If you want to know what’s the agenda in your city, look to the business round table. They are buying and selling decisions.

Care about families. The family is fundamental in embodying the revolutionary ideals and teaching the young how to struggle and change.

Fundraise: You have to ask for money to get the money.

Move the resources from the North to the South.

Don’t get caught, if you do tell them you are with the Irish Batallón here in solidarity to protect ejido land.

If you start something, don’t quit when you get in deep shit. Solidarity is more important in the hard times.

Celebrate the little victories. That is maybe all we get. (Celebrate the big ones too)

Organizers make more organizers

Send postcards. Tell the people you love, you love them. Smoochies.

People are good. Oppressive structures create intolerable conditions that order power. But people, they are good.

Use popular education for organizing. The people know what’s happening and how to fix it. Your job is to help them with resources and facilitation. Also- the Highlander Center & Horton/Freire

Throw big parties for all of your friends.

Know who you are and what you’re doing, if you don’t they will answer that for you.

Thank you Dan. Love you forever.
