Dan taught me THIS. What you are doing with this shout-out email to gather learnings from him. Call it organizing? Spurring into action? Following up? All of the above, possibly. My guess is that If you are doing it, it’s because of a seed that Dan planted in you, and that you grew over time (like the talents of biblical memory, we too play a part in it).
What did I do with my seed? The same that you’re doing. My father is dying of bone marrow cancer. He’s in Italy and lives alone. He’s been a very “difficult person” all his life, and recently he’s started pushing people away even more, including his children (me and my siblings). So I emailed the few family and friends of his whose contacts I had, and asked them to share with me something about my dad, something he’s “left them.” They did, and I shared that with my dad on the phone today. He didn’t quite respond, and I couldn’t see his face as he was lying in bed in the dark. But for a brief instant I had the impression that this got to him, and I hope it will keep him company.
