But then he taught us to organize ourselves out of the bag full of shit we found after getting expelled from Mexico. I learned specifically how to deal with the press, how to make talking points and stick to them and how to control our own narrative, tell our own story. These lessons I have taken with me years later into community organizing efforts. Forever grateful to Dan and his middle finger that never went limp in the face of injustice. And that man is a damn good storyteller.
