Included in the list of shit I learned from Dan is the tool/rule about reading source documents. Read them, then read them against what’s being written and said about them. Then help others do the same. Create a chart. Make it plain. Dan taught this in his classes and he modeled it in his organizing. It’s one of the things I learned from Dan that I use to this day (including on campaigns underway right now), and I’m a better organizer because of it.
